Andrew Bowerbank is a successful executive in the Canadian and international building construction, energy, and cleantech sectors, celebrated for his expertise in emerging technologies and low-carbon economics. With a proven track record, Andrew possesses a unique ability to identify new market opportunities and foster effective collaboration across industry sectors.
Recognized as one of Canada's top 16 sustainability leaders at the Clean50 Awards, he has also received the prestigious Ontario Premier's Award, and the 2023 CEO of the Year award from CEO Monthly Magazine.
Currently, Andrew is managing development of the new Kelowna Conference Centre, and chairing the Prefab Buildings Initiative. His career history includes notable roles, including Vice President at the Canadian Wood Council, where he worked to advance the market trend towards mass timber buildings; and National Vice President of Sustainability & Energy at WSP Canada, where he led the largest team in the country focused on climate resiliency and carbon-neutral planning. As Global Director of Sustainability at EllisDon Corp, he initiated the award-winning "Carbon Impact Initiative," resulting in significant project accomplishments, including Ontario's first Net-Zero Energy institutional building.
BIOGRAPHY
From 2007 to 2010, Andrew served as the CEO of the World Green Building Council, expanding the organization to over 60 member countries and collaborating with international leaders to develop a global carbon reduction framework. His public sector contributions include:

Serving as a Council Member at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, overseeing the $1 billion Green Municipal Fund;

Acting as a spokesperson for Canada's clean energy strategy through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and the Federal Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs;

Andrew has served as a special advisor and project leader for corporations such as Magna International, Enbridge Gas, and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. He also became the first executive director of the Canada Green Building Council’s Toronto Chapter. A published author and award-winning keynote speaker, he holds Bachelor's Degrees in Industrial Design and in Education, along with honorary degrees and a distinguished fellowship appointment. Andrew continues to leverage his expertise to drive the shift towards a low-carbon economy.
